McGregor Residence
Maintaining the existing envelope only, this major renovation reconfigured the orientation and layout of the residence to meet the requirements a new generation.
This major renovation involved a complete update and reconfiguration of the entirety of the home interior. The end result was the demolition and rebuilding of every internal wall and every external opening, completely reconfiguring the internal organization and orientation into a far more contemporary design.
The new configuration was designed as an ‘L’ shape, with the Kitchen, Dining and Living centered around a new Alfresco space and pool, with a massive northern aspect.
A new axis of the home was defined, providing a clear delineation between spatial uses. The living room ceiling was raised and raked, which along with massive new openings, create a sense of volume and light.
Externally, a massive Alfresco ring beam structure was added, as well as a pool and deck space, terracing down the property towards the established rear gardens.
The palette was kept light, airy a restrained, to create a serviceable and beautiful backdrop for the family to frow into for another generation.
